Tavia Williams

TAVIA is a strong proponent of community engagement and believes it is a gratifying way of learning about the community and its people. As a new resident of Washington State, she was in search of ways to continue being an engaged community member. She started off by supporting the United Way of King County Tax Campaign Program as the face of the program at one of the tax sites. After serving during the last tax season, she was invited to join the United Way of King County Emerging Leaders and learned of the CISR Organization.

Her passion for the education sector was fueled after being developed by a 2-year scholarship program that provided her the tools necessary to complete her undergraduate degree, be a leader, and build a professional career. She served as mentor and tutor throughout her entire college journey and joined the CISR Mentor program, and the Boys and Girls Club – Wallingford Board. Joining the CISR Board was an opportunity Tavia couldn’t pass after meeting with a few of the board members and doing a site visit to the McKnight Middle School. Tavia is excited to continue developing students to be their best whole self, personally, educationally, and professionally, and believes being a mentor and board member affords a different perspective to the operations side of CISR to meet the needs of students.

Tavia enjoys hiking, sleeping, traveling to a new destination for all trips, and cooking a new dish each week from Indian, Asian, and Caribbean cultures to expand her taste-buds and culinary skills.
